What Mental Performance Coaching Looks Like

Mental performance coaching is designed to help athletes develop the internal skills required to perform at their best, especially under pressure.

This work is practical, growth-driven, and rooted in real-world application. The focus is on performance-based mental skills, not clinical or therapeutic intervention. It’s about supporting athletes as humans first, so they can show up more fully as competitors.

Key Focus Areas

  • Confidence and self-trust
  • Focus and presence during training and competition
  • Managing pressure and performance anxiety
  • Identity development beyond results
  • Emotional regulation and resilience
  • Communication and relationships with parents and coaches
  • Coming back from injury

Who I Work With

I work with athletes across a wide range of sports and competitive levels who are ready to take ownership of their mental game.

This is a Good Fit if You:

  • Feel capable physically, but inconsistent mentally
  • Struggle with nerves, pressure, or overthinking
  • Tie self-worth too closely to performance or outcomes
  • Want practical tools, not just motivation
  • Are open to self-reflection, growth, and accountability

Additional Work

I also work with teams, parents, and coaches to support athlete development and improve communication and trust within the performance environment.

How the Coaching Process Works

I primarily work with athletes through individual 1:1 sessions. This allows us to focus on your unique goals, challenges, and environment without a one-size-fits-all approach.

  • One-on-one coaching sessions (virtual or in person, if applicable)
  • Sessions tailored to your sport, season, and performance goals
  • Practical mindset tools you can use immediately
  • A supportive, non-judgmental space to reflect, recalibrate, and grow
  • Ongoing development of self-awareness and internal leadership

I primarily work with athletes aged 18 and over, while also supporting youth athletes in collaboration with parents or guardians to ensure age-appropriate development and support.

Why Identity Matters in Performance

Ashley Rodarte

Many performance challenges aren’t about effort or talent. They’re about identity.

When athletes define themselves solely by results, confidence becomes fragile. My work helps athletes build a grounded sense of self, so performance isn’t dictated by outcomes, expectations, or external pressure.

When identity is strong, performance follows.
